Calling all runners and running fans,

As mentioned before, this weekend is the Big Surf half marathon on Superbowl Sunday in Huntington Beach Ca. and I couldn't be more excited. The downside, however, is that the race is at 630am and I get off fron work at 2am ( what!!!!) ... not sure how the whole sleep thing is gonna work out but we shall see. I have been taking easy the last couple of days to be well rested for this big day. To the right of this post are the classic surfboard medals that are given to the top finishers....cool ah? My goal is to finish the half marathon ( that's 13.1 miles my friend) in less than 1hr. and 25 minutes....think I can do it? Well have to see. Today I was off from my regular job and took it as an opportunity to work on the marketing aspect of the just launched Salmiler lifestyle website. So far the response has been favorable...super stocked!!!
Playing around the with the marketing features of my website host ( Big Cartel :) so far very happy....easy do it yourself steps, beginner friendly) I learned that I can make custom codes to discount my products on the salmiler.com website. To start off on the right foot, I have come up with a code exclusively for the few followers I have attracted on my own. Feel free to use the code ( ontherunru) to get a 20% ( expires Feb. 10th) off the total purchase price on shirt apparel at Salmiler.com. I will be coming up with other custom codes for the followers of other blogs that feature the Salmiler brand and site so be on the look out. This is only the beginning...Salmiler running lifestyle and apparel Co. has many surprises prepared for everyone so stay tuned.... Here at Salmiler were are living our lifestyle .... on the run, R U?

Calling all runners and running fans,

Today, meaning Thursday, was my second day off from running. Its been a wild roller coaster ride, but after months of hard work : planning, designing, running, etc.... Salmiler Lifestyle and Apparel Co. finally comes to life. This is only the beginning of a new chapter for Sal, founder of Salmiler. The beginning of a journey that will measure the straights and weaknesses and will in the end straighten the goals and aspirations of this founding lifestyle brand. It will not be easy, however, I have decided to take the necessary steps to make this "idea" into a reality through "action." Honest feedback is greatly appreciated and encouraged from everyone for it necessary to further enhance the brand and the needs it should fulfill. So put on your slick pair of running shoes, wear your most inspirational Salmiler Shirt, get on your Got Miles!!! Attitude, and pace yourself 'cause its going to be a wonderful Race!!!..... on the run, R U?

calling all runners and running fans,

This weekend started off raining but that has not stopped me from going out and getting my miles in....10 of them in fact. We had been spoiled with nice sunny days the last couple of days so it was only a matter of time before we got back on track with some rain. As mentioned before, Feb. 1st i am running a half marathon in Huntington Beach ( The Big Surf) just for practice, so from this point forward its all just slow base runs. You don't want to burn yourself out before the finish line, right? The real race and the focus of my training is the LA Marathon in May :) My two really good friends are scheduled to run The Big Surf with me. We'll see if they can get out at 5 am to run 13.1 miles. On a side note, yesterday I met this really cool guy on a business trip from Hawaii that runs the Hawaii Marathon in December and got me thinking.... Salmiler to the Hawaii Marathon in 2009?:D This guy was really cool, he gave me his business card and offered to show me the island if i ever made out....a tour guide always comes in handy right?

The first batch Salmiler shirts are finally in and we couldn't be happier here at Salmiler Lifestyle!!! Here is a small glimpse of three of the designs.... there is a total of 4. On Thursday we had the photo shoot at the photographers house with a "model". Why in quotes you ask? Well, the "model" that I talk about is not necessarily a model...lol....see if you cant guess who it is when you see the shirts on the website. The the shirts should be available on the website shortly. At times i have to remind myself of the importance of doing things right and being patient. I just want to plaster things on and show the world.... hey LOOK at the SHIRTS!!! Its a process and it takes time... I have also been making lots of buttons to give out and have been looking into the pricing for the shirts. I don't plan on making money off of this in the short term...Salmiler is a life long journey... only time will tell.....on the run, R U?

Runs etc.....

miles run: 9 mile tempo run........dirt...... sunny/perfect weather

something to think about: "The five S's of sports training are: Stamina, Speed, Strength, Skill and Spirit;but the greatest of these is Spirit".--Ken Doherty

Calling all runners and running fans,

Hello guys and gals out there. Today I decided to run a tempo run and therefore get it out of the way for the week. I usually have two days off from running and so that will be tomorrow and Thursday which happens to coincide with my days off from my regular job. This is a great opportunity to catch up on many things with the salmiler running lifestyle and apparel co. For one, I should be getting my shirts in and need to start planning the photo shoot to then get them on the website. I thought about having different people model the shirts, however, I decided that in order to keep the costs down, and to make things more authentic, I should wear and model my shirts, right? After all it is a running inspired clothing co. based on my lifestyle. Any suggestions? Feel free to comment.
Moving on to other things, I have been following this guy online that has found an interesting way to make a living by marketing others people's companies through a shirt he wears all day . He recently started selling each day of 2009 and has thus far sold over 8 moths worth of days. To make it more clear, Jan. 1st sold for 1dollar and December 31 has sold for 365 dollars given that its the last day of the year and so forth. Well, this guy has gotten so much hype that I decide to join the band wagon and purchase a day. I sent him an email and asked him if he would be willing to run a mile while wearing my shirt on July 11th and he agree. I went on to purchase the day.....Feel free to click on the post title to go directly to the site and see the calendar with my date advertised on the site ( iwearyourshirt.com).
Also, buttons are in now so for those that are intersted in getting some free let me know... its free marketing for Salmiler :) So far I have four cool designs to choose from with more on the way..... on the run, R U?

calling all runners and running fans,

Today i went out for a short 8 mile easy run. The weather was, again, very nice and almost unusual for the month of January? Isn't it Snowing in Boston, Raining in the Central part of the country... and sunny hot in Cali? I mean, don't mean to complain but this is supposed to be winter.... Anyways, I have been extremely busy getting everything ready to lunch the first few salmiler t-shirt designs. Its quite a task getting all the shipping, the marketing goodies and the website ready for this. In the end its all worth it cause I enjoy it!!! If you enjoy something then it doesn't feel like a job right? A couple of days ago I got my 1 1/4" size custom button machine and stated making buttons to promote the brand and the website. So far I have four designs with more on the way. This is all cheap marketing...if you want a button ( which by the way are super cool) let me know...I'll find a way to get it to you. Sorry to make it sort, but gotta get ready for what I call work for now......only temporary :) -got miles?

calling all runners and running fans....

Today I ran a tempo run to get out of the routine of doing base all the time... it also helps with speed. As I have told you guys before, I am running the Big Surf Half Marathon on Feb 1ST so this was probably my last hard work out before the race. So the last few days have been busy for us here with the whole Salmiler lifestyle co. start up. On one note, that second scree printer that I went to go see never even showed up... cut all the drama, I basically decided that it was best that we both go our sparate ways. On a more positive note, I am meeting up with my first screen printer tomorrow to see the process, take lots of picture and even bring some shirts...its been some time now. On another positive note, I have contacted a scree printer in Alabama that was recommended to me by another brand owner....it looks promising!!! These past few days I have been subbing like crazy...gotta make that money to support the lifestyle right? Here I took a picture of my lunch today after class. Not the healthiest, but I did make some positive choice alternatives....as you can see I got the teriyaki instead of orange chix... I also got steamed rice instead of fried. Its okay to pig out here and there. You just have to make sure that the pig eats healthier alternatives within the choices available. By the way, Chinese food is my favorite food....Chop Stix and PF Chang's all the way!!!! Moving along, I have begun handing out my sticker to everyone I come in contact with from employees at work, customers, students at school, teachers, family, strangers .... you name it. I also began putting the sticker on just about everything. As you can see, here is my "man purse" that my friend Alain D. brought from Ecuador... even it has fallen victim to my promotional campaign....hehehe. Do you got any ideas for my campaign? :) Today I also received my custom 1.25 inch button maker... how cool is that!!! I was a home with my family when we opened it and started making random buttons as trials...let me just tell you that its not only easy and fun but very addicting!!! Custom Salmiler buttons coming your way soon!!! :) Stay tuned for Salmiler shirts coming very very soon...oh by that way I will also need models to model the designs... you up for it? Who knows, you might be the next Salmiler Top model......... -got miles?

miles run: 13 mile base.......grass/dirt/asphalt..... sunny/very windy

something to think about: "pressure is nothing more than the shadow of great opportunity." - michael johnson
calling all runners and running fans,
Today I ran a 13 mile base run along the Victoria trails. The weather was nice and sunny with a touch of wind. Those of you that live in the IE ( Riverside!!!) know how windy its been last last couple of days, especially at night. Friday night ( actually sat. morning 2am) I saw shopping carts and small trees in the middle of the streest...how crazy is that!!! Moving along, I need some feedback about the Salmiler design up right. My question to you is in terms of the bottom lettering...does it bother you that its upside down? I told my designer that I really liked it but was not sure about the upside down letters.... she said that if the runners can be upside down, so can the letters. Its all art right? What do you think...be honest!!! Tomorrow I am supposed to meet up with the screen printer that is making my first set of tees. He called me on Friday and told me he is gonna start printing on Monday. I will be taking lots of pictures to share here with you all....how exciting right? Finally Salmiler shirts for everyone baby!!! Tuesday I am meeting up with another guy who says he can do an even better job... Its a good idea to try different people when starting out so you don't miss out on potentially getting a better deal. If you settle with one...you will never know how much better it could have been. I have two designs that he is going to make samples of for me to look at and decide. This second batch of shirts should see the light late jan/early feb. One last thing, I just purchased a button maker...oh yeah baby!!! Its a cool machine that pops those little suckers left and right at 1.25 inch round size... its the little suckers we all want cause they are tiny. Promotional custom made Salmiler buttons coming your way soon .....tbc( to be continued) -got miles?

something to think about:"To win without risk is to triumph without glory."

calling all runners an running fans,
So what do you see above... its the stickers I had told you all about. It was exciting when I got the box that read, " salmiler stickers"... woot woot!!! These are the 4" by 2" promotional stickers that I got to start promoting the brand. I will have to say, Sticker Robot did an awesome job with my design...see link above. I did realize that I should have put the .com at the end of the name given that its also the website. You live and you learn ah? Its still exciting to have them either way. I have already began giving them out to everybody. If you want one let me know...I'll find a way to make it get to you. Moving along, I have been working with my designer on two other t shirt designs for the collection...the first ones should see the light very soon. I have also been working on the layout of the website in anticipation for it going live soon. As for running, today I ran a ten miler base run. The weather was perfect and the trail was clear and welcoming. After my run I headed over to Panda and treated myself to a nice two combo item...I really like their orange chix and the kungpao chix.... to make myself feel better I like to get white right...it is healthier right? I was off from my regular job today... I enjoy my days off :) makes me smiley..... got miles?

something to think about: " Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired." - Jules Renard

calling all runners and running fans,

Today was my day off from work and decided to be a bit lazy for once. While I did go out for a run, it didn't happen until after 1pm. I got up and did research all morning about all the different possibilities out there of making a shipping experience of your product more custom, more unique and original. I got all excited and started looking at the competition to see what they do to Wow! their customers. I even went to Staples and Office Max to see some materials for a postcard I am making to go along with my orders.... I wish I could go on and on telling all of you of my doings with this project but I have to leave it until its all ready to ship....don't want to spoil the surprise right? :D Today while running, I encountered high winds throughout the run which scared me at times. I am always scared that one of those trees is gonna fall off on top of me. Those huge palm trees are sure strong to resist the strong winds that flings them back and forth for minutes at a time. The winds did allow me the opportunity to practice acts of heroism as I would remove the branches and huge palm discards that lay on the street preventing the cars from flowing thorough. I felt good as people waved at me for helping them out....hey I'm already out here right? why not!! After I got back to my car I went home and did my regular weight routine. Then I headed over to my neighbor/designer's house for cake... it was her (blank) birthday.....I guess you can figure she isn't the youngest since you know there comes a point where the absence of age signifies many years...well, let me say she isn't past 47 yet...lol. I then headed to my parents house and talked to my brothers about the many ideas I have going on with Salmiler lifestyle and apparel Co. Its exciting to know that now its not only an idea, but instead now its an action that is coming to live everyday. Them my sister and i headed to Trader Joe's to get some food for the week. I absolutely like this place. I got cereal ( all organic of course), almond milk, soy milk, cereal bars, almonds, banana chips ( yum), ginger candy (spicy), and wheat pasta. Working at a restaurant is awesome. It allows me to get fed well and I only have to buy little snacks here and there for my days off and before work......got miles?
